Seeing as we're all obsessed (some more than others) with Brisbane at the moment, here is a thread for the Brisveganites. Subject sums it up pretty well - which suburbs do you think are the most "quintessential" Brisbane and why? I'm talking quiet tree-lined streets full of Queenslanders, or not... just whatever suburbs you think bring out Brisbane's unique and special qualities the best. Could be useful for those unfamiliar looking for great Brisbane suburbs. I'll go first.

Kalinga (I'm including the bits of Clayfield who refused to be annexed when the part of Wooloowin that was historically Kalinga went back to its original name in 2015). Gorgeous suburb for the reasons I alluded to above

I think Bluey is based in Paddington/Red Hill area so I guess that probably takes the cake

These would be my pick - Kalinga, Clayfield, Ascot, Paddington, Chelmer, Bulimba, New Farm, Hawthorne

I'd add Graceville, Rainworth and Rosalie to the list.

Maybe said in jest... but actually yes! Even though it's Ipswich - lots of beautiful old Queenslanders on big blocks, leafy streets, hot as hell in the summer.

My top 3 would be; Kalinga, Ashgrove, Chelmer

Ascot and St Lucia are also pretty stunning, but some renos are a bit ott.

Paddington, New Farm, Bulimba wouldn't make my list as they have some big downsides e.g. narrow streets, not all that tree lined, very busy/no parking, block sizes are bit smaller in Paddington/New Farm, the streets are incredibly steep in Paddington.

When have a steep driveway and narrow street put people off? LOL

There's something very Brisbane about walking up a vertical hill in searing heat to a bus stop

I think we can all take inspiration from Bluey here. And thus: Paddington

Runners up: East Brisbane, Chelmer/Graceville/Sherwood, New Farm

I’ll add some more - Wilston, Grange, Yeerongpilly, those bits of Toowong/Taringa around Stanley Terrace

Here's a question: Hypothetically, if you could live in any street in Brisbane (PPOR)... which street, and why?! ;)

It's hard to go past Laurel Ave, but I may pick King Arthur Tce (Tennyson) to be different. I lived there a few years back.. the serenity of watching the river flow past was great.. and hitting golf balls over the river to the st Lucia golf course. Cycling/running around the area was awesome and there were some nice cafes.. amenities are only getting better with the tennis/unit developments.

hmm...nice choice, that is a beautiful part of town.

I'm gonna go with Ascog Terrace in Toowong. Super-convenient to everything, gorgeous houses too.

I posted this last year Brisbane is booming 2021

Kind of a similar question, although more about how well known they are:

    --
If I think suburbs on the northside that most people in Brisbane will know roughly where they are I think of:

    - Milton
    - Paddington
    - Kelvin Grove
    - Ashgrove
    - Aspley
    - Chermside
    - Hamilton
    - Toowoong
    - Indooroopilly
    - New Farm

i.e. these suburbs are old world Brisbane - the kinds of suburbs that would have an AFL team if they were in Melbourne e.g. Hawthorn, Carlton, Fitzroy, etc

Most people have probably heard of Bardon, Newmarket, Ascot, Windsor, Newstead, Enoggera, Albion, Kedron, Clayfield, The Gap, Stafford as well - but would have a harder time pinpointing them.

I'd add Spring Hill, Kangaroo Point, Hawthorne, second Bulimba, New Farm & Inala
