Yup. And also will have booster if medical advice indicates it is preferable.

Found an interesting TED presentation on why the mRNA vaccines can be developed so quickly.

Yes, Astra Zeneca. Second shot next week. Will take any boosters that come out as well. It's a no-brainer.

I’m guessing a lot of PCers are over 50.
My age group has not been eligible that long.

    I am a live experiment in multi-vaccination.

I was fully Pfizered before travelling to China, now I'm halfway through the Sinovac dosing. Get the second jab in a week or so.

And don't laugh, but I think I'm getting a head cold...

Pushback by WHO on booster shots... immoral while much of the world has no first shot?
Might wait a year or so unless needed for travel to Australia.

There's a feeling that it's just not immoral. Allowing the virus to run free in other countries with very few people vaccinated could facilitate the mutation of the virus.

That may be the case, but haven't we just secured, something like 80 million shots of Pfizer/Moderna for upcoming booster shots?

"Secured" does not mean "delivered" ... it just means that they've committed to supply us with them at some point in the future.

Given the timeframes involved - it makes sense to secure supply in advance.

Exactly - the federal government had "secured" enough last year to vaccinate everyone 3 times over ... still waiting for delivery

Not sure if I'm just saying that to make myself feel good, but I would assume that the average IQ on here would be higher than the average IQ in Australia, so I'm not terribly surprised to have vaccination rates also being much higher than the Australian average.
Part of property investing is assessing and analysing data, and weighing up risks. The same skills needed to come up with the conclusion that while the vaccine isn't a zero risk option, is much better than the alternative.

While there is likely a correlation between "education levels" (not IQ !!) and vaccine rates - I suspect it's more likely that the average age of property investors and thus members on PropertyChat is relatively high - and so more of us have been eligible for vaccinations for longer.

Certainly part of it, but not the full story. Even if you take age into account, we're still too high compared to what you'd expect:

Do you have any data you can share about the age spread on this forum?

Obviously, there's the reporting bias as well though. Perhaps members that aren't vaccinated are less likely to click on this thread.

That's probably the biggest factor to be honest.

I've always had an issue with people surveying a small sample of people and then extrapolating it across the entrie population.

"78% of the population believe that Sydney is the best city in Australia"

    ... as opposed to ...

"78% of the 150 people from Sydney that we surveyed believe that Sydney is the best city in Australia"

I don't have accurate demographic data - but I was able to generate some stats from the database which will guide us a bit:

See: PropertyChat is 6 years old!

    upload_2021-6-18_17-27-2.png

While the peak age range is clearly the 30-34 year old group, the total number of older members is quite high ... so to summarise:
    • 53.8% are under 40yo
    • 46.2% are 40yo or older
Once again though - this should not be read as "53.8% of members are under the age of 40" ... it should be read as "53.8% of the people who put their year of birth in their profile ... are under the age of 40" ... noting that only 838 people out of 28,000+ valid members actually had their age added to their profile.

Yes, I'm definitely with you on that one.

Still, it looks like the age skew isn't as bad as I assumed. Even if you added five years to the reported ages, it means we're well ahead of the average.

So I think even if we were to correct for the reporting bias and the actual age bias (which we can't) we'd still be well ahead of the average.
