This will be good news generally. Probably will take a couple of months for the change to “tricks through”. This is even though the offered rebates for visa fees if students arrive in next 12 weeks. Not sure how much these fees but assume around $500? Hardly a big incentive.

In any case. Let’s see if students do come back.

I'm not so sure I'd want to come here, if I was a student until Covid was better controlled.

We really need to give credit to Australian people (all of them not just the “elite”). I think we have done much much better than the vast majority of nations….

I think so too. There are other views however.

They'll come. In droves. Give it a tad more time and they'll be here.

They don't just want to come for studies. Many are seeking a country change. Adventure. PR, freedom to 'express themselves'. Aint new age students big on this :) Australia is the perfect vessel for all.

Things will be back to normal sooner than many believe. Their own countries are likely to be in worse shambles than Australia. They will come. And many will stay.

I think I just figured out who you are!!:eek::eek:

Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg says he can't see that having an impact.
"I don't think so. People love to come to Australia, whether their backpackers who want to come to Australia or international students who want to come and study here. They're an important part of our economy."

I know some existing students are very keen to come back.

But I also know some people who were thinking of going to Australia to start studying but then decided against it and stayed put in their country for now. That might impact new enrolment but my sample is so small so can’t tell much.

The local students are very keen to get back onto campus - or for some entering their third year - on campus for the first time.

It's such an important period in gaining freedom and social growth and making adult contacts and learning about who you really are as a person
