Constant debate where to put the aircon unit. Can't move the master bed due to size of room and where ensuite or double doors are.

    1. Above bed: wouldn't that be an ugly look?
    2. Window next to bed: this window also happens to be front of the house

Any suggestions? For investment property to be resold. This house tends to be hot due to extended roof eaves.
Ducted with zoning may be considered but we're seeing if we can cheap out first. TIA.

Run the pipes through the ceiling cavity and put it where ever you like.
Sure it's more work and not "as easy" for the installer, but it is possible

Edit: extended roof eaves will help somewhat to keep the house cool !
It's probably the dark roof that makes it hot on sunny days.....
Have a solar powered temp sensor roof ven't installed

Splits dont have to be "back to back" and a short run like B2b is best for energy efficiency and install cost. Usually 3-5metres best to avoid more copper and gas charge. There are also split multis with more than one head unit so one external unit can serve two rooms each with a remote.

If its a bedroom a quality unit may be quieter than a cheapie as they have nighttime modes etc. eg Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. These units also have optional wifi tools etc There are also ducted splits which are different to full ducted. Speak to an AC specialist

Hmm, I would not put a aircon unit above the master bed. There's danger of leak and it'd be messy.....

Doesn't look like there's enough room to put one next to the window at all  how wide is that section of the wall?

How about in the corner 'above' but really next to the bed?

I have had one leak, but fortunately was 'above' but next to the bed as I describe. Personally I just dont like the idea of the aircon unit hanging above my head for some reason.

Just feel weird about it, no one wants to wake up and see vents hanging over their head.

May have to see how it'd work out if we shift it further one way or the other on that wall.

The unit could be set-up on the Windows section and the heat pump sitting outside the windows as the piping would just up then straight through the wall - plus the electrical supply..
But just ask yourselves the question will this add any more value when you sell ?.

From a feng shui perspective, a heavy or sharp object over a bed is a bad idea.

I believe that in a sense it gives uncomfortable vibes, who wants something hanging over their head in the morning, right.
But can't use that argument with the partner, who thinks all that is hocuspocus.

There are also discrete AC head units that dont look as much like a AC. Floor mounted / wall mounted. Or can be fitted to a bulkhead and a grille. Depends on costs I guess

LG Art Cool.. Not sure it looks that good though

Whilst you can install a AC anywhere by running the pipes through the ceiling the bigger issue is what to do with the condensation drain. That's why you typically have unit on exterior walls so we can get rid of the water easy, you can buy pumps but they are noisy and prone to failure.
New builds are OK as you can plumb the drain through the framework, existing house not that easy.

Hotels with split systems seem to put them above beds. Also Airbnb’s where I’ve stayed.

I find I end up too chilly with a draught around my neck.

Some years ago, I lived in an apartment with an aircon unit on the wall over the couch.
Unfortunately, one summer it began leaking - down the wall and onto the couch.
For many reasons, I'd never put an aircon unit over a bed - firstly because it then becomes a feature that is noticed as soon as you walk past or into the room and aircon units aren't attractive enough to be a feature. Secondly, if it leaked it'd spew water onto the bed. Thirdly, these units are heavy and I don't like the thought of a heavy unit directly above my head. Lastly, I'd prefer to have the airflow blowing ACROSS the bed.

I have one above my bed and I like it there because I don’t see it when lying in bed.

Agree, first and foremost I think it's unsightly just seeing an aircon above a bed, moreso for whomever wakes up to see airvents as the first thing when they open their eyes.

I've decided to put it on the opposite wall but have a duct up to the roof, shall see what the professionals say in the coming weeks as we get quotes.
