    Aluminium windows in my 80s brick house has "grid" glued to the outside surface. Apart from aesthetics (they look ugly) do they do anything? Does anyone know how to remove them?

    The "grids" are strips of aluminium glued to the glass only on the outside. So from the inside the glue is very obvious and they block some decent views.

    May leave a permanent track however;
    Spray some soapy water, use a sharp scraper blade, razor type, get in under it and gently lift to free it, remove glue.

    Maybe try phoning one of the big window manufacturers for advice.

    The glue is silicone, apparently WD40 softens silicone? Does anyone have experience with this?
