Top post. Yup - it's your money, so rather than just following herd, go on the ground - see if it suits you or if you like it. What maybe good for others may not necessarily fit what is good for you. I see some really weird stuff like someone spending 160K on granny flat (you can build a turnkey house with that cash) and massive housing commission in certain areas, and everyone is giving hi fives like they won the lotto. wt? For e.g. if i was keen to buy in a different city or country I would like to go to the city and area before buying sight unseen. Same as how I did in the UK, asia etc.

I am a definite failure - it took me 18 to 20 years to reach financial independence.

Had no idea then. Still don't have much today. We bought our first IP in 1992 for $125K. Ten years later, it hardly moved in value. The 'experts' told us we bought a lemon and we should sell it. Still have it today and it is worth $650K.

OMG, I wish I failed more often and in a more spectacular way :) :).

As I have said before on PC:

    "Ready, Fire, Aim"

That is, get your missles in the air, then work out where the targets are.

Congratulations... you are a big failure:p

Definitely not a competition, my comment above was really to point out how difficult it is to reach financial freedom I picked 15 years because I think the forum was establish at least 15 years ago SS/PC??

We probably don't think about those that actually go backwards in the property game, lose money, they don't come back, I know quite a few.

    Totally agree.

My race is my race - I have to be a winner, as I am the only one in it.

My strategy is my strategy, ...

My plan is my plan, ...

The sooner other PC members realise this, the sooner they will be successful.

    But hey, don't listen to me. I am a failure :) :)

I started this thread so we could discuss and review why Brisbane has yet to boom,=

How and what we do with the information moving forward is really up to us, the key I believe is to never stop learning

Believe me, I want Brisbane to boom. All of my properties are in Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

I might start Brisbane hype thread and a Gold Coast hype thread.

Too late, thanks to @JDP1 and @big max .

I don't think people come here looking to reach financial freedom as the main focus.

I joined another property forum, then found Somersoft and now PC because I enjoy talking about property, renovating, seeing before and after photos. We were already on our path well and truly by the time I joined the first property forum.

Sure, there are people on here who are real go-getters, developing etc. But I'd say most just like to chat with like-minded others. I was able to talk property with my parents, but my MIL doesn't know what the extent of our assets is, and none of his siblings.

Like shares forums, or motorcycle forums (I'm guessing) it is someone's passion to discuss everything about it that brings them here, and not necessarily a driving urge to become the next billionaire. ;)

Disagree. I would say quite a few on this site are looking at property to provide financial freedom as the main vehicle. Whether they get it or not is another question...
Back yo the thread title..Brisbane hasn't boomed mainly due to average jobs gtowth(demand side) whilst having increasing new builds and sales (supply increase).

Sure, I get this, we are all passionate about property.

I must be missing something then? honestly I thought most people come on this forum to learn, share with like minded people and the end goal for most would be ultimately to retire from property??

    ****, I failed again :) :).

I retired WITH property, not FROM property.

If I am not careful, I will be banished to the Dunce's Dungeon.

Or we could just start a GoldBrizzie thread, which is my phrase for the entire region as it will eventually merge.

I'm expecting 20% growth some parts of Gold Coast next year and around 6-8 for Brisbane. All good. Brisbane will pick up as resources recover, and based on natural value arbitrage compared to Sydney and Melb. Bris will also benefit from the economic benefits from the rapid growth coming from the Gold Coast over the next few years.

Why not go all out and start a SunshineGoldBrissieCoast thread?
