Who do i need to install a dishwasher

Is it an electrician I need or a plumber? Or can I do this myself? I already have an existing connection, I am just replacing one.

If the delivery guy does not do it. DIY. Easy as. There is only a 3 pin plug, water inlet connection and drain hose. Just make sure the water is off before disconnecting inlet hose.

 

We ordered our last one from appliances online and you can choose to have it installed and the old one removed for an extra 50 bucks or something similar. This is worth it just so you don't have to carry the old one outside...

 

Just make sure:
- the new one fits, the "standard" size is not that standard
- you read the install instructions, especially for the outlet

Getting delivery guy to do the install solves one of those issues.

 

Plumber
Not an electrician.

 

Is it trivial to install if there is already a dishwasher there? Is it simply disconnecting the old one and plugging the new one into the slots that the old one was connected to? If so, why would a plumber be needed - i can see why if there was no dishwasher there in the first place, but this is not my case.

The quote to install it and deliver is $200. I'm trying to gauge whether this is something I can do myself and would it void warranty if i did.

 

Don't get a plumber, an electrician could be much cheaper, but you don't need either do it yourself. I ordered a Bosch on line and it was delivered and installed for about $ 600 which was a little cheaper than what an electrician quoted to supply, and install for free. The PM quoted more than double that.

 

The connection are there. You don't need an electrician to plug in a dish washer or a plumber to clip the drain hose on. This is one reason I don't like property managers they are good at wasting your money and lining the pockets of tradesmen.

Yup, I didn't read it properly. Both would be needed for a first time install to add the pipes and the PowerPoint.

Neither needed for a replacement, just push it in the alcove and connect it up.

Yep if you know how to disconnect / reconnect a washing machine then you can do same with a dishwasher. Be careful of appliances online, their prices fluctuate a lot and they're often higher than JB, HN and GG so make sure you price match them before purchasing.

 

I think a lawyer may be required

You need to consider drains, dish drawers, dishlex, door drop down

 

Yes allow an extra $2,000 to install your dishwasher if you also get a lawyer, cabinetmaker, plumber and electrician.. go for it if money is no object.

Rangehood can also be installed by yourself if you know how to operate a screwdriver but get an electrician if you don't mind paying extra for the luxury of not having to twist a screwdriver.
