    Hi guys

I've just purchased an IP in Brisbane and need to get my keys cut (two copies).

Any suggestions where to get it cut for a good price in Brisbane? Can be in CBD or Brisbane's south side.

There are 8 keys. I called mister minit and they said they charge $9 per key (25% off if more than 4 keys).

Property manager can also do it for me but I assume for a premium.

    Thanks.

We have key cut at some obscure place and although it seems cheap at first, but the quality was bad; couldn’t work and had to get a second one done.

Suggest to go to a local locksmith connected to the Guild. If you are located in the Southside I can recommend...

I get my keys cut at Bunnings in Vic. About $3 per key.

Seconded. Whilst you're at it, get them rekeyed for peace of mind.

All keyed to minimise the number of keys required.

    Wow $3!

Does anyone else get their keys cut from Bunnings?

We do regularly. The only downside is that they don't have a huge range of blanks for more exotic locks.

Yeah, if it's a standard lock Bunnings is fine. If the key doesn't work properly, they'll even re-cut if free of charge (I've had to do this once with a key that went in but didn't sit right and had to be sticking part out of the lock to turn).

Can also get them colour coded as well, which I've done.

This. We sometimes get a Tupperware container full of keys for a house that can be reduced down to 1-2 which makes it easier for both PM and tenant.

Always get locks changed to the one key for the whole property. Last time we did this it cost about $350 for 7 locks. Well worth it in the long run for simplicity and convenience.

Yep! Happened to us once. Around 25 keys and no idea what went where. Firgured out the main ones and tossed the rest.

This is what I'd do too, and it won't cost much more than eight keys x 2.

I'm very careful who we trust and have for many years used and trusted Lockpro Locksmiths in Holland Park.

There's a place called Sole Saver in the building attached to the train station in the CBD (the one with the food court) that cuts keys for about half the price of mister minit

I used to work for Bunnings and cut thousands of keys when I was in high school. Even today it's only a few dollars.

They can cover your average door key, but if it's a key from a locksmith, you'll have to go to a locksmith to get duplicates made (Bunnings and others won't have the blanks). These more complex keys usually have a, "Do not copy", stamp on them somewhere.
