I was tossing up between getting the MX5 and the 86.
In the end the 86 won because I don't have a garage. Maybe if it was a targa top, it may have changed my mind.

My 86 also has a baby seat in the back, yet to stick any "Baby on Board" signs on it :p

@Dan Donoghue - Why the auto though? :( (Requirement from the missus?)

Nah mate, she just got a new CX5, the MX5 is my car :). To be honest I used to get a lot of ankle problems a number of years ago, once I got rid of the manual Sportivo and into the Auto GT my ankle problems went away, now I am just used to Auto.

My test drive for the MX5 was in a manual and I was VERY close to going manual but I would get sick of it in the end and I know what i'm like in a manual, I tend to over rev and stretch out the gear changes (especially since owning the Sportivo which revved out to 8,200rpm), I want to keep the car for 10 years and I don't think an engine would take that level of abuse for 10 years, the auto keeps me well behaved as it feels less like a racecar ;).

It's a Mitsi 380 for the last few years, works for me, I don't drive much.

This in my previous life (before moving to Aus). Mighty Zastava 128. For a performance review, refer to Top Gear Albania special, J. Clarkson really liked it (the hatchback version though). zastava.jpg

@MTR , have I missed this, what do you drive?

    So good!
I got rid of the impractical ZR after a while and went for a practical 5 door - found that particular year Sportivo with the same engine and 6 speed. People wouldn't believe me how quick it went, but they were soon crapping their pants when it was redlining around 10k RPM, hehe.

I have a wrx worth about $2k.. Always done nearly all mechanical work/servicing on my cars - saved a lot that way. My cars seem to be getting cheaper over the years, rather than the other way around.

I just can't justify it last few years.. $20k is most of the way towards another purchase.

One day I'll sell some property and buy a 911, but until that time I shall remain tight :)

MY06 GT Liberty wags here too - the GT wags makes a great family vehicle and it's now 10yrs old and still runs like new. MrWestminster is a hoon but not tempted by the 86 or BRZ as it's not AWD. There is also a MY99 WRX 720whp 9.48@147mph

If we're regressing, I think the 1000HP GTR's would be the way to go.

I did the legals on the first guys to bring these in commercially. They are fun. Pity about the dodgy knock offs with the cheap battery chargers that followed.

Wealthiest developer I know used to drive a very old bedford tray back. Upgraded to an old rav 4. Just has no interest in that sort of thing.

This guy pays cash for huge lots of land and then develops big industrial subdivisions. No bank loans, doesn't sell the sheds. Would be in the tens of millions in equity (at least).
