I would too, if it came with a 100% guarantee for a 6 pack.

Haha I was thinking the same upto a mil.... then I thought of actually departing with the mil......not sure I could do it. 400k no probs. :D

You don't have to buy one for the Mrs but if she's a really good cook then you have great incentive too!:D

Yeah..I can imagine many people ( even those who really couldn't afford it) would spend big on something like this if it ever existed...

Do you get some kind of inflammatory response with the carbs?

I'm diabetic. I choose to eat a strict Keto diet. Means I'm limited to meat, cheese, green veg, & not a lot else. No bread, rice, pasta, flour, potatoes, etc. There's a long, long list. What it means to me is that if I'm really strict with my diet, I don't need to take any medication.

Plus no mango, watermelon or bananas. The intake level of carbohydrates is definitely restricted. Add in items such as fish, chicken (no skin) and mushrooms and it's not too bad at all really in my situation.

FWIW I think your making the right decision early on before it gets worse. My dad has type 2 as well and now eats super healthy and no other issues so far.. He used to eat waaaaay too many fruits.

Ummm -$250,000. Need to be paid. I think part of pleasure of the food for me is knowing you only can have a limited quality. I would really miss the feeling of deciding, or having to go I had 3 pizzas this week. Next one next week. Waiting for that day like a sweet date. Nah.

I could eat it everyday for months tbh.....

Luckily I have good willpower or I'd be obese quite quickly.

Fruit is a hard one. It's also something that is hard to explain to others as well because it's 'healthy'. To be honest, I used to eat a LOT of fruit. I could eat a kilo of grapes, watching TV, and that was the first warning signs, because I started breaking out in hives. I thought I was allergic to grapes all of a sudden.

But yes, I've seen what uncontrolled diabetes can do, and thankyou very much, I don't want to be a statistic. Once you go down the path of just listening to what the doctors tell you, don't change your diet & just take the medication, it's a slippery path to more & more medication and an early death.

If you know a diabetic who doesn't take their diet seriously, just take them to the diabetic ward and watch a debridement of someone's feet. Make sure your wearing a mask.

If that doesn't change them, nothing will.

This with a particular type of oyster is a match made in heaven. I’ve even been able to convince a few friends from your neck of the woods (less than fully observant to be fair) to overlook the shellfish ban and they loved it.

sounds like what you really want is a herb garden , to mix , match and medicate , and you can partake when you wish .

am not driven to extravagance on food , if i am out and hungry i just select a suitable outlet , if all that is there is the corner store the meal is likely to be brown bread and cheese , if i have a choice that depends on the mood i am in and the choices available ( some outlets can ruin anything )

PS remember my posts in the extreme frugal thread , i don't spend money just because i can ( i SAVE money because i can )

but that answer is i would probably have a little garden of mixed herbs ( and try to live where there is no yearly snow ) after all time is money as well

    This.

Some times the pleasure in eating something you really comes from not eating it all the time. When you do eat it, makes it so much more special and enjoyable.

I get this from a family member all the time." Why do you eat so clean? I eat what I want and enjoy it". I say that when I do eat that burger or pizza or whatever it is, I enjoy it so much more than you because you eat it all the time.

I knew a guy. He lived with his Dad who had uncontrolled diabetes. Diabetes killed him. Son slowly going down the same path.
