I'm 37, currently work 3 days per week and plan on retiring next year.

I do enjoy work and find it intellectually and financially rewarding. I'll also miss the social interaction with some of my colleagues but this is a mere footnote in the scheme of things. It is also incomparable to being truly in control of your time and and being able to take advantage of the vast opportunities provided by financial independence.

Agree. Full time work is waaaay overrated. Between the gym, social groups, family time, holidays, more holidays, cooking classes etc etc I don't see a full time 9-5 appealing at all for those who dont have to. Slogging for an employer is the last thing I'd ever want to do if I didn't have to.

Way overrated. In many ways working full time holds us back from our potential.

All these things and more. Learning French through immersion in France, further study and research, community service, learning to play the saxophone and art...

Then there is the work of investing to benefit you and your family and not your employer, your clients or your colleagues.

To live a truly balanced and fulfilling life.

Currently working 4 days a week and loving it. Working on my terms, yet still being productive and challenged when I am there. For instance, just last week we launched a new major feature for a software product that I'm responsible for.

For fun we like to travel, so missus and I took unpaid leave to go travelling around Asia back in March. Will be taking more unpaid leave in October for our upcoming Europe trip :)

    Hey Jasper,

thanks, that's a nice thing to hear. True, costs go up in some ways and down with others. I won't be travelling to work as often for instance.

My goal is to have a passive income of $50k a year. This would enable me to work less with more time for fishing, golf, camping, travelling.

Currently researching for IP3 so I've got a while to go yet....
