Yep; bike is the new running for us old farts.

I only do a bit of serious running these days in the lead-up to the Aus Day fun run down here at Safety Beach, otherwise it's occasionally, and the rest is on the bike.

Does anyone do things like P90X, T25, Tapout, Insanity etc?
I quite like them, especially Tapout 2 and Insanity. Also running and riding but I'm under-motivated at the moment. No where near peak fitness.

Walking/running - overrated. The car was invented to pull us away from these prehistoric exercises.

But I did get dragged into pilates yesterday. I thought I'd hate it, but was great! Although I may be biased as I was the only guy in the room;)

    Completely agree.
Nothing beats pushing or pulling a car or other heavy object, prowler, etc for an awesome workout. ;)

I have a similar argument with my fiancee.

My thoughts go we started as fish, then moved to land (started running) and finally learned to ride a bike. Therefore cycling is the most evolved form of exercise and swimming the least. Obviously my opinions have nothing to do with her excellent swimming abilities and my almost complete lack there of, that's just a coincidence

I like cycling in groups or running if solo.

I don't drive much but I used to cycle everywhere. It was funny when I quit cycling and moved to walking/running that walking felt so incredibly slow. It is a real change of minset to switch from cycling to walking. Now I am used to it, the time flies past.

Anyway, I walk to the train in the morning (25 minutes) if I have time and walk from the train home in the afternoon (when the weather is fine) simply because I am not doing anything more strenuous right now. I like being active and brisk walking is my substitute for more intensive exercise when I am slacking off.

It was two dog walking, of course, but now it's my unicycle.

As I no longer fall off every 10 seconds, it's really quite hard work to keep going, and a whole other set of muscles is needed. 30 mins is about my limit then I also need to exercise that right arm with some repetitive lifting actions in front of the TV.

@Mumbai, I'm quite busy before heading to a trek in India at the end of July.

Could organise something once I am back mid-August. The Blue Mountains is my favourite playground.

A brisk walk after getting home from work is a pretty good way to clear the mind.

Lycra should be banned on men.
Especially the ones who think it's acceptable to get changed at work. I don't walk around the office in undies, put some pants on for the love of god!

I'm guessing shaving the legs is frowned upon too :p

Do you at least have a pair of courtesy shorts for if you drop into a cafe?

No.. the pockets in the back of the jersey are for over-ripe bananas.

It would be a bit of a novelty for cafes to hang towels and request cyclists to cover up.. not that they would..

If I ever opened a cafe I definitely would have a range of courtesy shorts, like the fancy restaurants that used to have some spare ties.

Does this also apply to the myriads of women wearing active sports wear(lycra), many who wear these casually without partaking in exercise.
