Am I imagining this, or is there a lot of brand new members all posting similar questions about buying an IP at the moment? The initial posts are very similar to each other. There is someone who does not post anything on the forum recently start PMing me. Is it a conspiracy? Has someone started up an online business directing cyber traffic to Property Chat for clicks or something? Or are they getting in early to snap up distressed sales in six months time?

Don"t really know... But glad new people are making there way to Property Chat.

It's a wonderful informative forum and I have been grateful for advice I have received generously.

    And for the laughs...

which group will win the battle

"newbie wanting to buy a IP" brigade
    or
"newbie saying the property market is going crash" brigade
    or
"newbie saying landlords should stop complaining" brigade

seems to be an influx of people that want the property market to crash 50% so they can buy up their own house i guess.

They also seem to think that convincing this group, albeit very small percentage, of IP and home owners that the property market is going to crash, will somehow help accelerate that process, or perhaps be deemed true and correct if their predictions eventuate.

Either or, I hope they use the millions of comments on this forum to educate themselves further on the process and less likely to lose their hat.

Volatility makes people curious and they want to "cease" the opportunity. Quite often ending in FOMO or FONGO.

I think everybody is reading about the potential for a property market crash (i.e. opportunity), they are bored sitting at home and they have nothing better to do than post on here. I imagine the same is happening on investing forums regarding the stock market tanking further.

    I voted for lazy.

surprising number of people who have never considered shares are thinking now is a good time to enter the stock market too. It can be for those who are sensible, take their time and do their research. The level of greed and get rich quick people who just what the short cuts is amazing. (Hint - there is no short cuts)

WFH and suddenly realising the time they spent chatting at the coffee machine can now be used on Property Chat.

    +1

Unfortunately it takes time to build knowledge and execute on a property deal. Overenthusiastic people might catch a falling knife/ buy a lemon.

I too have had multiple PM's about an area that I'm very familiar with. Definitely something fishy going on, possibly the same person/group. I'd say the motivation is commercial in nature.

This newbie is one who isn’t “wanting to buy an IP at the moment”.

    I am waiting for a 80% crash :p.

I've noticed a fair few newbies around, but to be honest, they're more 'the sky is falling' type newbies, gleefully rubbing their hands together at the plight of LLs. Sigh.....

To be fair though, a lot of them are the same user who has signed up 3 or 4 times in the past few weeks and about 20 times before that over the past few years

Takes me a lot less effort for me to ban him than it does for him to create a new account and start posting

Also getting a lot of PMs lately as well.

i don’t mind helping as many on here have helped me, for the most part it’s a great community.

    BUT

it’s appears to be the ones that are my age that dont do any research and are looking For quick Answers that agree with the bias they all ready have. I’ve even had 1 person resend the same message 3x almost ****** off when I didn’t reply fast enough for him, these were huge messages with all sorts of questions including tax advice which I’m not qualified to give - enlightenment sprung to mind

I also think a lot of non property investors/FHB may be looking for information on property at a time like this, and this website pops up fairly easily. All of a sudden we have a large mix people not willing to learn or contribute but more stir the pot out of frustration of not actually owning property.

I get a few and also don't mind helping out. Personally if I want to know something I will just post it up and throw it to the wisdom of the crowd.
