First vehicle at 18 was a Kawasaki KLR250 road trail bike, cost me $3000. Mum and dad hated it, offered to match my $3k if I would buy a car instead, but as a stubborn teenager I refused. Not much of a head turner, but for me it was an absolute freedom machine. I have ploughed much more money into much bigger bikes since then, but many of my fondest memories are of times spent rattling around windy roads in the Adelaide Hills at full throttle and picking up my girlfriend on the back much to her parents disgust!

1976 Toyota Corolla wagon, baby poo colour ("mustard", popular in the 70´s), $3200. Occasionally it was a hang glider tow vehicle in open paddocks, which destroyed it. Sold for $300 after 6 years.

    *sob* Holden..*sob*...*sniffle"....CAMIRA!!!!!!

Twas an epic piece of .......!

Consistently rated one of the worst cars of all time.

Rumour has it that the grunge movement in Seattle started after someone tried, in vain, to put a Camira into second gear.

I used to look upon my mate's Lada Samara in envy...

I used to put a $10,000 bike in the back of a $1,000 car and travel to pay $60 for a race to win the $20 prime for fastest bike split!

1977 Toyota Celica. Cost me $2000. Then the timing chain went in the first few weeks which was another $1000. I was that keen to get my first car I bought the first one I looked at. Then swapped cars every 6 months for the next 5 years. That was an expensive exercise.

The first one that we actually bought was an Excel (after many years of having company cars which weren't salary sacrificed or lease-back).

Remember the days dropping off a cylinder roll of 24 pics to the developer and if lucky maybe get a 1/3 off them worth keeping, thinking square 4:3 photos looked great, but compared to today's tech they were actually crap.

64 EH Ute, 161 red motor, 3-on-the-tree, full bench front seat (no seat belts) paid $800.
Compare that to the Utes the young guys run around in today for a year + salary.
Perhaps like many of us I kinda wish I still owned her (hindsight) - 1964 Holden EH Ute Fully Reconditioned | Cars, Vans & Utes | Gumtree Australia Hinchinbrook Area - Forrest Beach | 1144777307

But I upgraded to a HQ Premier Wagon with 253, 5 speed celica box, tinted windows & curtains/mattress in the back when required at the drive-ins etc. My shag'n wagon without pulling up the front of the girlfriends parents place in a PV.
    Unfortunately during a storm I aquaplane'd it into a tree :(
