Anyone else have eggs fights? Or tap hard boiled eggs together? Use the ends of your egg to tap against another, last person standing wins

    Maybe something like this, http://www.meccano.com/product/p10923/junior-150-piece-bucket

    Although not really Easterish.

My wife's family plays the hard boiled egg tapping game... I don't know if it's a Greek thing or an Orthodox thing as it's done at Orthodox Easter... either way I tend to win so I'm not complaining. They dye the eggs red too, again I don't know why.

Wow @Bran what a massive load of gifts! This is pretty crazy, no way I would want my kids to get that much stuff and that kind of expectation! Kids don't need much to play with IMO and I've seen the nieces get plenty of presents that are used once and then set aside. As you said, nothing beats spending time with them doing something together. In the end, love and attention is really all they need.

Egg tapping sounds like great fun! I might have to put some boiled eggs in the easter egg hunt.

Not that I know of but it wouldn't surprise me if his grandparents did but they are long gone and no one seems to have passed on the tradition. We are just plain old Anglican/CoE stock now.

Most people arent aware that you can usually throw an (uncooked) egg over a house and it will not break (provided it lands on grass). Freshness and throw technique are important - but not critical.

I'm also with giving nothing, or perhaps a joint experience if you have to.

When did easter turn into a gift giving mandatory?
