So I've been thinking of running an investor information night in a couple of months, even possibly roped @D.T. to come to Melbourne for the occasion!

However, we need to come up with a few topics to talk about - so I want to know what our fellow PC's are interested in hearing about should you look at coming to an info session.

I've done a little poll with some ideas on what we can talk about, but would also love some input of anything I've missed or if you wish to go into further detail on each topic.

Love to hear any and all ideas!

Please note this session is not to spruik any services of any of the speakers. It will be an informative session for those involved in property and investment. I'm also happy to have feedback on how you think the session should be run.

If you have the numbers, you could do something similar to the SIG (Sydney Investor Group) meetings that were held. You won't remember them....you were probably about 12 at the time, but it was a regular meet-up, which had a gold coin donation as admission. They used the free meeting room of a hotel to run it, and the donation was to cover costs. Things like projectors etc.

Anyway, it was run maybe every two months, I think, and it was a information session with various speakers with different specialities. You might have a broker at one meeting, a QS at another, a developer, a successfully retired investor, a Real Estate Agent, etc.

It was very popular and it was great learning about all sorts of different areas, and the networking was awesome.

    Good luck!

my daughter has just moved to Melb she is interested in property, as a newbie it would be brilliant if she met people doing this in Melb

I think all topics mentioned would be great.

Also good to look at ways to add value for newbies to speed process, strategy which is low risk, easy to finance......by building a new property at rear and selling front first - steps to stage/achieve this.

Another topic, cycles, understanding cycles, timing markets to maximise profits.

    Impact of APRA/creative financing

Where would these be held? She is living in Richmond at the moment, no car...

    MTR:)

I think it would be great to have a structured topic/speaker at these meet ups as it would be a great way to bring in some new people to these meetings.

Edit. Not sure if we could fund D.Ts exorbitant mini bar tab though, gold coin donation wouldn't cut it would need the paper stuff;)

    Skating it is!

Hey, maybe I can even convince @skater to join us again!

@MTR tell her to come to our monthly meetings as well! There's one tomorrow night, I'll be there. More casual, but then she gets to know people. This one will likely be held around South Yarra so not too far from Richmond as it's where my office is based. Won't be held at the office, but somewhere near by.

Loving that the most votes has been around development so far, this is something I myself am quite interested in down the track. Not quite ready to jump in yet, but have a couple of clients doing some small developments at the moment and find it all very interesting as its not something I've really been exposed to.

@WattleIdo I like the strategies too, something always to keep in mind with investment. Will add it to the potential lists.

Slums/low socio/regional are some good ideas too.

Considering to run a couple, so all very useful even if not done this time around :)

    Sounds good.

I don't know whether she is free, but I will give her your contact details.

A couple questions, how many generally attend?

Is it mainly newbies? the mix, she may feel intimidated that's why I ask?

Hmm..I like the slums/low socio sessions.

Things like how to deal with arrears with these types of tenants.

Maybe some practicals such as how to scale a side fence by placing a foot on the top and levering oneself over.

Communication skills with emphasis on the word "Oi !" eg "Oi !, where's mi rent?"

    Sound interesting.

The monthly meetings are really casual, low key anywhere from 4-10 usually. There's a few regulars, but usually a mixed bunch. For what it's worth I'm 24, so no need to be intimidated as we're all mixed ages and have different experiences. If it's not her thing though, I'm always happy for a chat if she wants someone a similar age to talk to :)

Lol @datto scaling a fence in a skirt and high heels is one of the first things you learn in PM!

    Keep the ideas coming!

Yes I figured that (no pun intended). I forgot to add roller hockey. I was a speed skater back in the day. Get along to a general session a couple of times a year to keep the boots soft. ;) Daughter can now fit into junior skates, so that frequency may increase.
