I found an infographic on the world's wealthiest cities. I was surprised to see Sydney was up there. There's an explanatory article here. Melbourne didn't (quite) make the cut. Mapping the World's Wealthiest Cities
Interesting. Seems to be a lot more wealth sprinkled around Asia than Europe. None of the middle eastern cities get a look in. I would have thought there is some serious coin in places like Dubai.
Maybe in Dubai, there's wealth but only a few people have the wealth and not the rest? For Sydney, I think the reason why our city is on the list is because our property prices are high - good thing people want to live here. Beautiful city, great weather, jobs available, property boom....
I would think so too. I suppose the real wealth isnt made public in places like Dubai, Saudi Arabia etc like it is in the West. Probably lots of hidden wealth everywhere.
It is not surprising at all. If you travel around the world you will realise Sydney is not less than any world class city in standards.
The wealth in the middle east is just put on to maintain foreign investment. Saudi Arabia especially has a huge amount of poverty. That's per month and household.
