Congratulations Linda. That's a beauty. I love sandstone. Huge block and I'm sure has an amazing history over it's 100 year old existence. So happy to hear PC peeps realising their dreams after years of investing and hard work. Looking forward to hearing more at Wenty's in January. :):):)

Oh well Adelaide sandstone houses are definitely more value for money. Then again everything in Sydney is expensive!

Congratulations! It would be interesting to know where it is located ....

I just thought I'd clarify, the house is not in Hunters Hill but it's the same style. :D
Its a spectacular place for fireworks!

    To everybody...
Thanks for all the lovely comments! We weren't looking to buy a new ppor but we were on my way to my sister's place (they put in a new pool) and saw an open house sign so we followed it as you do. Ended up going to an ordinary house... (battleaxe, maybe 5-8 years old) nothing fancy, on supposedly big land but I think 200sqm of it would have been the driveway!). It was even asking even more than this one was. Not interested.

Then saw a sign for this one. Partner protested saying I don't want to go see houses.... So anyway, I was driving and I followed the sign. It doesn't hurt to do that sort of thing, right? I got to near where the open flags were and parked the car in the shade.

Approached the house and I was like.... wow. Then I asked for the asking price to the agent (who I had had a 30 minute chat with about 3 or 4 weeks earlier at a different house) and I was.... wow (no way!). Of course, I didn't say anything out aloud.

As agents tend to underquote to buyers I could not believe it was possible.

Anyway, had a look. So did the partner. It ticked all the boxes and then some.
So on the way out I told them I'm interested, they sent the contract within the next 2 days...

I seriously said to the partner, if we could get it for x price, would you go for it? Thankfully he said yes!! I confirmed it with him a couple of times because we weren't planning to buy at all....

It took a bit of time (because the vendor just wanted to exchange unconditionally) but we got there! :)
The partner also wrote a really nice email for the vendors saying how much we like the house and could they tell us the history of it. I think they are really pleased to sell to new owners who have a lot of interest and respect for the history of the property. ;)

Anyway, luckily we had an offer they would accept and a better offer did not come along in the period before we exchanged. :)

    Happy happy happy!! :D

A few hints.... 1.2km to a major Sydney train station, easy 5 minute walk to frequent buses to my work, easy transport to nearby Uni which is also within walking distance too for those inclined.

A downside is that I'm going to get less forced exercise at this address because at the moment I ride my push bike just a bit over 10 minutes each way to get to my bus... :)

That's a stunning place, but from the development side, and looking at the very old fire place stacks,if you were too split this up,where is the house sitting on the footprint plan, and as i know nothing about the area, just make sure who ever does the settlement that this may or not be the case but is this property heritage listed, because there is a law in nsw about old stone properties like this that may be old in history..just a simple question you may want to ask..

Thanks... I havent gone to council but I will say, its a corner block (no easements!!) and just looking at the shape of the land there is subdivision potential because of the dual street access. I would not be changing the house at all but the garage area (which imo can actually fit 4 cars) looks like a good space for another house should we choose to do that. :)
