was there a server crash? ?

    I noticed the website started showing error. Even the somersoft forum started showing error, not sure if it has the same server.
    Error-502 bad gateway.

    No, I just took the database server offline so I could do a full server backup prior to patching the server.

    Takes about 7 minutes to do a full backup and you can't do it (safely) while the database server is online.

    Eventually I'll set up a redundant database server mirror so I can take one offline for upgrades while the other handles the website traffic.

    And yes, Somersoft runs on the same server - all my websites use this database server.

    I was at work and thought that 'big brother' had started watching me.

    I googled 502 error to see what it was all about.

    At least now I know - if it happens again.
