Or, alternatively, people in Victoria are working together to snuff out the virus so it doesn't spread to the rest of the country. You're welcome.

And yet you're too scared to get the vaccine :rolleyes:Which has really brought under control infection rates and deaths in the UK and USA in the last 6 months..seens like there is a pretty simple solution to further lockdowns, and yet those most angry about it, seem to do the least
to help solve the problem

Do you mean Victoria or the USA/UK (they don't even do contact tracing there)? The Federal CMO said that Victoria's contact tracing was 'extraordinary' in senate estimates last week. Being able to chase down 10,000 close contacts in a matter of days is pretty impressive.

Just so we're super clear - the alternative to lockdown (caused by a HQ leak in South Australia by the way, because SA haven't implemented aerosol transmission prevention controls like other states including Victoria) is to let it rip across Australia and have UK/USA-style carnage.

I'm happy to sacrifice a bit of my personal freedom so you don't get sick. ;)

Its a bit unfair to single out vic labour. The problem is systemic in government. If you run out of money and have a new program to fund - find more sheep to tax

We need a system thats similar to how the US was founded. i.e. most taxes are raised at a state level and the federal level has minimal budget / tax revenue. This means that taxes will be self correcting. If you want to live in a high taxing, high spending state you can move there. If you want a more free, low tax, but low government services state you can move there.

Sadly the US deviated from this ideology with their federal government being worse than ours.

It’s been determined the second strain causing the Vic lockdown came from another Vic hotel quarantine breach.
I wouldn’t be praising Vic and criticising SA.

Agreed though, as mentioned the first strain came from SA quarantine.

A hotel quarantine leak is likely behind the Delta strain outbreak in Melbourne

Fair comment to an extent. VIC does seem to have more robust aerosol transmission protection than SA, but nothing is perfect. Probably unfair to criticise SA as the leak may have occurred regardless. Another great argument for proper air gapped quarantine.

Hard to say whether the delta outbreak would have caused lockdown on its own as it was so small, but it was probably contained because of the lockdown as well. Possibly would have depending on how early it was picked up.

It looks like the Bill was introduced to Parliament on 12/10/21 with a stated commencement date of 1/7/2023.
