I've seen one bloke hit the trifecta, gambling+drugs+prostitutes. Net result is he is flat broke at 46, in fact worse than that, owes the the ATO a couple of hundred thou, lost his job (c. $250k pa), his business (c.$200-300k pa) and is now looking at fraud charges in coming months which will lead to a custodial sentence.

Of all of them, Gambling is the one that will put you in a position that you will never come back from, because where there is gambling there is often theft.

People ******* around on here about drinking coffee or a glass of wine don't know what vices are ;)

Drinking wine is the only vice I am admitting to in public; my shrink has my full list but it is NFP.

    Does buying lotto occasionally count?

When i was a young teenager, I overheard one of the cousins have 2 kids all from different wives, and he just let the grandparents to take the kids and was off with the 3rd wife. Can wives ounted as vices? :D

Is gambling a vice if you're well up on it or does it just become an income stream at that point?

I am currently seeing a shrink for my many problems, my addiction to Mona Lisa is also on the list, or is that a personality disorder of some kind.

though if anyone tells me they don't have any vice I would need to check their pulse.

As always, everything moderation. I budget for both booze & caffeine. Booze is 2% of my monthly budget. Caffeine is 3.33%.

Combined that's 5.33% of my monthly budget which means its 2.85% of my monthly take home.

I'm sure tracking spending to that level is overkill for most people, but I'm a spreadsheet nerd & it helps me avoid the hedonic treadmill. I also find it makes justifying things like a gym membership easier when I can look at my monthly / quarterly / yearly spend on junk & coffees. Seeing hundreds / thousands of dollars worth of bad food decisions is a good motivator for me.
