:)When going through realestate.com looking at properties I have saved in the past, why do some show their sold price and others say 'contact agent'?

I have heard that if it doesn't show the sold price it's a fair indication the property sold for what the agent believes is under market value. Where as, if they show the sold price the agent believes it is above market value and may influence a higher price for other comparables.

Does anyone know if there's any truth to this? Or know why they do this?

    MJS :)

I'm not sure why, but that makes sense.
I'm not sure how they do it either, maybe they pay an optional fee to block the price for a certain time period.
It comes up somewhere within about a month or so.

When transitioning the the listing through to sold, the agent gets the option to choose whether or not to display the sold price.

It's usually a personal choice of the Agent, sometime the Agency will have a policy and sometimes the Vendor or Purchaser request the sale price to be withheld.

Google "sold price" or "ksou" to get some prices and rent prices if you don't know anybody who can access RPData for you (agent?).

I also love the free BOQ that gives you lots of info but no owner names or other personal and emails a report to you within a minute.

Pricefinder or rp data is great for this.

What I find annoying is agents not updating a listing even after the property is Uber contract/sold.

It is a BOQ app. I have been using it a lot just lately. Have you searched in your phone App Store?

    Total misinformation.

Agency is farming for new enquiries hence wants contact. Agencies are not obliged to show the sales price in the advert but as others have said it is found once settlement has occurred

I get more annoyed at the agents getting peeved when you call them to speak about the selling price of a property that is marked contact agent.

It is up to the agency if they want to display the price however the vendor or purchaser can also request the price not to be disclosed.

There is an agency that will publish all the results (and they do 90+% of the time get good results) however I know they have not disclosed price on some great sales and there was also some not disclosed on some poorer performances.

I have allowed the price of my place to be published as I got the benefit from previous sales and why shouldn't I give back to the others. Not once have I had someone come up to me and say hey you paid xxx for your place or I think you bought it for xx more or less then they think it is worth.
