Hi, I’m looking to do a standard valuation (hopefully fair and relatively conservative) on a unit in Brisbane. Not seeking anything too detailed. Any recommendations for a valuer in brissie? My google searches showed HTW but keen to know any other suggestions and a small outfit is perfectly fine. Thanks.

    Cheers
    Jay

For what purpose? Mortgage, related party sale? Insurance? Stamp duty?

We've just had JDMA Valuers do some valuations. You can explain to them the purpose for the valuation.

With related party sale, you can also get a couple of real estate agents to give you appraisals with comparison sales that must be within a certain time period (three months?)

It will depend on your circumstances. If there is likely to ever be a question about how fair it was, then a valuer removes any chance of accusations down the track that someone did anything tricky.

Thanks Wyllie. That is helpful. I probably should have added that although it is related parties, both sides would like a fair price on the exchange.

Then I would pay for the valuer. That way there is less chance of any comeback.
