Yes, that's what I'd like to know.

Obviously getting existing property has its pros &cons. I'll see the serviceability in the next 2-3 years for the next opportunity.

I don't think the L of your H&L is big enough.

My first step would have been to listen to the overwhelming uniform advice on a forum where some know how to do this. But, that's just me.

Seriously though, your block is 300m2 with a 3/1? What do you think it will be worth with a shipping container plonked in front of the back windows? Do you have side access sufficient to move in a couch?

Yes, you're right @Bran I guess I'll have to find for some other property later on with at least 500sq Meter in size.

living in a shipping container is already low in the belt, let alone 2nd hand?

even Logan tenants give you this -- >

but i like you thinking outside the container, sorry box.

300m2 is better, get the container right up close to the current house... means shorter extension lead for power, minimal pressure loss though the garden hose and wifi will work a treat!

container living is the future, people live in units that are smaller!

    Correct, that's the thing...
somewhere in the future a modified container box might become affordable for cheaper housing.

Why not ditch the house completely and put 2 rows of containers 4 wide and 2 high? That's 16 containers renting them as studio apartments for $250pw? Do the math @Tekoz !!!!

Plenty of companies around aus building these but I wouldn't call them cheap. If you want it cheap you have to get your hands dirty and be abit thrifty in the second hand columns buying fixtures.

I wouldn't listen to those complaining about renting a container unit I have one and mine has rented faster, easier and usually for above asking price than any of my other houses.

yes that'd be lovely.. BUT the developer sell it as H&L package :-|
hence I must decide to build by certain deadline, no possibility of land banking for sure.

Tim86 purchased and ported a house in Salisbury QLD. Perhaps that maybe one option you can explore..

With Logan allowing up to 100m2 annexed unit, the old Queenslander mostly 90m2 may be an option? You get a proper house after some work/money spent on it, but total cost compare to a freight container or a granny flat is another question.

The mob that sells these houses have a monopoly. They also move them. But they won't move your house unless your drop site has DA approval for the house. Otherwise, they are happy to babysit your house, at about 5000 a week, or some similar princely sum. @Tim86 - do you know anything about this? Total rort. And a big reason why many otherwise reusable houses are simply demolished.
