Here is what I see for the US:

1. The number of CV cases will overwhelm them...to the point they will need to shut down part of their economy.

2. Based on previous experience this will lead to violence....a large part of their population has guns so maintaining law and order will be very hard for the authorities. Chaos may reign.

3. If think the supply chain in China is affected...wait till the US is affected....

4. Unemployment is going to rocket up.

4. The US housing market will take a big hit...it is going to be as large as the one in 2008....maybe worse. As people become unemployed...they have even less resources financially to pay loans. They will simply hand back their keys and bail. It is not like Australia where people can be bankrupted.

As of January 2022, the US unemployment rate dropped to 3.9 percent, the lowest since February 2020. I've read stories of McDonald's offering $50 to $100 just for attending an interview, bonus is given after six months of employment

Housing markets have also been interesting over this period

Australias extraordinary population-led growth

In January 2024, Australia’s population reached 27 million. This came 18 years sooner than the government planned and predicted just 22 years ago! That sounds like an extraordinary case of poor government planning and/or poor predicting!

Australia has the highest population growth rate outside of Africa, but it is still the sparsest/least densely populated country on earth.

In this issue we discuss why this is critical for investors and how it shapes our investment markets and outcomes.

Today’s chart shows population growth rates and population density for selected countries.

Each country is represented by two circles, indicating their average annual population growth rate in the 20th century, and also for the 21st century so far, plotted along the vertical scale. The higher up the chart, the higher the population growth rate.

In almost all cases, population growth rates have declined from the 20th century to the 21st (ie downward arrows between the circles). More on this later.

Australia is a huge desert. It's a useless comparison, considering a large portion of the continent is practically uninhabitable.
