I have just refinanced from ANZ to Westpac. Is there a way to quickly transfer the offset money from the old bank to the new offset account?

Problem is, the amount in the offset account is larger than ANZ's daily transfer limit (hundred of thousand dollars). Is there a way to quickly transfer the entire balance to the Westpac account?

    Thank you.

Yep, just ring them and get them to temporarily up the limit and/or allow the transfer

As Terry said, it can be done over the phone quite simply

I'd love to have the limit up, so I can transfer on the Internet myself.

I have had ANZ clients transfer over $500k across.
    Best to check again

It would be done as TT at a branch, not a cheque. Triple check account numbers, obviously.

Thanks, would a cheque reduce the risk?

You still need to provide account numbers to deposit the cheque. Also consider the clearing time.

Bring statements, write down account numbers twice, at different times. Check the numbers, then check them again.

You can call up and request a TT (Telegraphic Transfer) over the phone these days
Cheques are an old and slower way to do it... not more or less risky.

There's something called RTGS (Real time Telegraphic something something)
Costs $35 and its there the same day.
You'll need to go into a branch to do it.

Did it back in April for STG to ANZ.
Funds were available in ANZ account in < 10 mins.

I was in the post office once and an old lady came in and wanted to fax $100 across to someone.

Also reminds me of a client who photocopied cash as proof of funds to complete. He was serious too

In a branch they can arrange it. They can reset your limit to a very high level for a single event (depends on bank/account type) or may use RTGS. And charge a fee :-(
Often only customers with token etc can be authorised.

Thanks all. I went to ANZ, and did a telegraphic transfer. They charged a fee of $28 and the funds were in my Westpac account an hour later.
