    Hi All,

Can anyone please advise me as to what is involved in the transfer of tiltle ie. getting an ex spouse off of the title of a property that was jointly owned, which is to now be owned by only one party? There are court orders in place and the property is in QLD. I am being quoted full conveyancing fees for the transfer which I feel is excessive.

    Thank you in advance,
    Mick.

If there's mortgages to deal with then I'd say that its close enough to a "normal" transfer that full fees would be warranted.

If there's not, well you could *almost* do it yourself I'd say.

There is a mortgage involved, however, I have already got the finance fully approved and awaiting the transfer and organised for the discharge of the existing mortgage.

It seems strange but a Family Court order transfer to get an ex-spouse off title is nearly the same amount of work as a standard purchase. There is a little bit less work in the middle with no searches or contract conditions to be satisfied.

We charged a flat fee of $600 for a Family Court order transfer in Qld. I don't know what's in the water but I'm dealing with three others at the moment.
