CLR is available from your supermarket or car supplies linky

Alternatively use HCl from your nearest Hardware ($15) or pool supplies place, leave in bowl, add acid to water not other way around.

I reckon you could just put you hand in and scrape it out. Just flush a few times to make sure there are no surprises down there lol.

Looks like bong water in that bowl - what have they been using it for?

Hopefully, the only surprises are taped under the cistern.

Bleach is not very suitable as its a base, you need an acid to remove those sort of stains.

As a side note, if your kettle is a bit gungy, some water and lemon juice cleans it up nice

    Or coke :)
It is the answer for anything as it's also acidic :)

coke? is this why drug addicts dunnies are so clean
    jokes..

I had same problem, but was listing the house so only interested in hide_where_ever_I_ can quick fix.
I used the blue solution, but after an hour when the bubbles are gone, it becomes visible.

I then empted the water from the bowl, let it dry, painted it using the tile paint, let it dry, use the blue loo solution...bobs your uncle.

I've tried bleach, vinegar, pool acid (worked well on the old loo - but I'm not game to use it on the new one).

Nothing really works and I have CLR (plumber recommended) but just haven't used it as I'm scared I'll ruin the finish. I'm going to try coke next for sure.

Removing water from bowl is easy - use an old plastic cup or cut up a plastic soft drink bottle and throw it away afterwards.

If the stain is rust, bleach chemically reacts with it and makes it even tougher to shift. Acid based stuff is the best bet.

When I was much younger, I was told coke cleans near anything and eats into things like teeth, so do not drink it......

Anyways, I was not so keen on drinking it, but I had some old coins, some were quite dirty, so I put them in coke and left it for a few days or a week, thinking what could it do....

Well it almost ate away half of some of those old coins, it ruined them ! I then believed it was not so good to drink too much of it.

Be careful with coke and metals at least !

I agree coke will remove it let it sit for us long as you can

I live on tank water and get build up and dirt in the cistern. Coke fixes it all

    CLR.
    Guaranteed.

The amount of times I've had cleaners try and tell me they can't get a toilet clean....
Step 1 (Optional): Suck or push as much water out of the bowl as possible.
Step 2: Pour in CLR. I like overkill so I do half a bottle, you can get away with a lot less if you've emptied most of the cistern water out and you wait a bit longer.
Step 3: Sit around for half an hour, longer if possible.
Step 4: Gloves on, soft scourer, stick those hands down that toilet!

Never failed me yet, never damaged the finish and always comes up brand new.

CLR is so useful for so many things so it never hurts to have a bottle around anyway. It's almost as legendary as Gumption.
