    Hey guys,

Need to get a sparky out to my place to do a few things and was wondering what the rough price is to install power points, light switches and down lights is?

In each instance the wires are already run and hanging out of the holes so purely instillation no cuttin/running wires required.

    Thanks!

Just an hourly rate... $77 an hour or so plus callout.

About $40 to replace a power point from memory and $80 for down lights. I remember thinking it was expensive at the time.

Wasn't clear who was supplying the items, but it will be cheaper if you buy the replacement items yourself and just pay the labour cost of the electrician.

Nah I'm not but I've watched a few YouTube videos. It seriously doesn't look that hard. Im not running wires that's been done. Purely attaching the GPO's and down lights.

Haha Scott I don't see the problem? Surely other people have done it themselves?

The important part is to make sure the power is off and then do the job correctly.

Yep. But you can only ask the ones who are still alive. Why take the risk of killing yourself or someone else? Oh... It is illegal as well.

I've seen a lot of "qualified" electricians that can't even get the basics right on a regular basis.

Disclaimer: A lot is not an exaggeration. We have 100's of photo evidence as living proof.

    Hi Dan,
If you decide you need a sparky around the 2101 post code we have a great one who is reasonably priced. Won't use anyone else now. Have also found a great plumber after going through a number of ordinary ridiculous priced ones. We will stick with these guys now. Happy to hand over our hard earned cash to the honest and reasonably priced trades.

Na. Let's go somewhere else. No spark left in here. Too much resistance.
