    I like it,

Ultimately there is no growth without trial. No lesson without failure.
So in tune with the idea that we should design our own lives (as opposed to running with someone else's design), we should also commit to & understand the trials that we will need to overcome to achieve it.

So true, it really is all about how much pain you can withstand.
How much you miss out on and what you sacrifice.

Successful people love all the things non successful people do, comfort, watching tv, mindless entertainment etc, but successful people will give them up because of a vision for a better way to do things.

    Me too! :D

It's about balance though. It's 6 pm on a Sunday night and I am painting a rental property for a reno. Then later I watch some junk tv and probably play Ultima if I can figure out how. :)

    Welcome to posting land :).

I love that article too - the good stuff takes sacrifice. It's just a matter of what is worth the 'pain' .

    Nothing new but great article.

Today, too many people believe they are "entitled" to the pleasure without wanting to experience the pain.

They don't understand or believe in delayed gratification

I feel like if everyone complaining about housing affordability read this article, they may work/save a little harder, and complain a little less.

Highly, highly unlikely. Their entitlement and fixed attitude is well entrenched and won't shift unless their mindset/philosophical beliefs do first. And that's not an easy task for most people. So they'll just continue along their path as per usual unfortunately.

    My 2 cents.

If you stop throwing your 2c around all over PC and saved them instead, you would have enough saved up for a deposit on another property in Sydney by now :) :).

I would like to think it could start the mental shift in a small percentage, but you're right the majority will just continue along.

It's like the people that think those who build freedom through property are 'lucky'.

Indeed...indeed. And if i have the courage to do the unthinkable and finally cut loose the male concubines....I'd be able to start with the surburb of Point Piper and secure Frank Lowy's doozy mansion :D:cool:
