You are confusing opportunity with outcome.

Governments can assist with the provision of equal opportunities but can’t force people to take up those opportunities to achieve an outcome. That is an external factor outside the Government’s control.

See my primary teacher example in my earlier post.

Same with your wheelchair example. The Government can “build the ramp” but can’t force people to use it.

+1 . I see it all the time. Folks whinging about their situation but seldom actually investigate what they can do and what's available for them . Its much easier to blame others than take responsibility . That's ultimately what it comes down to.

Visited the clinic (private)for baby checkup last week and the midwife consultant was saying how she'd never go back to the lower socioeconomic areas to do this job as their excuses for everything in life was endless and never ceasing. Even after she directed them to where they could get some help they ignored her . Too much effort required on their part .

To me, equality is about removing barriers.

In the example above, this could be achieved in many ways including removing/lowering the fence, making the fence transparent, ... That is, equal opportunity for all.

Then, if any of the three walks away (that is, does NOT want to participate even though they were given the opportunity), then that is their decision if they missed out on enjoying the outcome/exciting game (called life).

Taking boxes (of money) from one person and giving them to another is not a sustainable solution.

    And Newspoll has Labor 52 - 47.

Meanwhile, Sportsbet, which had been fairly consistent, did have the odds on Labour lengthening to 1.2 until a couple of days ago, and is now back to 1.14.

This has been floating around for a while but Clive Palmer makes a good point: linky

Should the release of counting in the eastern states be released before the polls have closed in the west (2-3 hours behind)?

There is some merit in the argument put forward however should it really affect the results? It's no longer possible to restrict what is shown on media as results are plastered all over social media.

    So, who's going to win?
    - will Labor get the sympathy vote for Bob Hawke?
    - can ScoMo get the underdog up?
    - will major parties be favoured over the lesser/independents?

If it happens, the LNP will rename him to Lazarus and the ALP will be looking for a new leader :D.

Nah! You only jinxed the guy who just lost the unlosable election, who used the sympathy vote and tried to take a whole raft of policies, big government, higher wages fewer mining jobs and increases in taxes to an electorate who weren't ticked off sufficiently with the incumbents.
