Don't want to jump on here to advertise, but I realise this has been a subject of many threads here and insurance gets quite a bit of interest, I have previously promised to let people know when it came in, so this is easier than looking back for old posts.

From February 1st (for new policies) and April 1st (for renewals) RentCover policies will include flood. It's been a long wait but here at last.

There are a number of other changes as well, including increase of limit for RentCoverUltra to $65,000, and the most significant change of all is the inclusion of cover for "damage by pets" up to $65,000.

    Finally Brett :)

Been using you for our own properties and recommending you to all our clients and you finally remove the last gotcha :)

Yes it's been a somewhat trauma filled affair getting it right...but finally. The Pet Damage is the big bonus. (You should have got an email invite today for an announcement function in Adelaide if you can make it).

Good news. Is Cairns off your poo list yet?

I remember when I first moved here I insured with EBM as you were quite competitive (but no flood cover which ended up being a deal breaker for me). When I looked into EBM again you had taken Cairns off your covered areas.

But I have just renewed mine recently so it won't be covered until later :(
    Finally though!

Hi Kinnon, I'm not sure where you got that impression. I've been here for over 25 years and Cairns has never been on a "not insure" list.

    Great news @brettc .

Hoping I will never need to use this feature with my Brissy properties but great to know it's there if needed..

    Great job Brett!
Will our policies premiums go up now?

Simple answer is yes, but it's pretty minor. RentCoverUltra will go up $10 per annum (less in NSW because there are gradual reductions occurring due to the abolition in FSL by 30th June). RentCoverPlatinum will also go up but dependent on location etc. as always.

For the additional cover I'm pretty happy with the level of increase.

    Hi Brett,

On 19/03/2015 I received a response from one of your account managers after I made a quote request and this was his reply "I’m afraid at this point in time our insurers have placed an embargo on your area and are not currently providing quotes.

Once this embargo is lifted I will be happy to look into this for you."

Haven't heard anything since so assume still not covered?

Okay. This would have been an embargo for new policies or changes due to Cyclone Nathan. It would have been removed once the threat was over and they have neglected to advise you. These embargoes generally only last a few days, my apologies for them not letting you know.

    Hi Brett,
That's great news. I have a unit in South Brisbane which I insured in Dec 2016.

How would this change affect me?

Also, do landlords usually need flood covered for a unit in a high rise?

Nothing will change for you until renewal. Off hand I would say it would be unlikely you would be affected by flood with a high rise unit in Brisbane, but that's without knowing the location of your property, floor you are on etc.

Hi @brettc is there any way of adding on flood cover before we renew for existing policies?

Does this mean that, since our three properties are high on hills, that our premiums will decrease?
