Just some random thoughts. What is the link between Brisbane and the Gold Coast? Is Gold Coast a satellite of Brisbane? Will Brisbane and the Gold Coast merge to form a coastal metropolis?

I think it's already there. Brisbane gold coast and sunshine coast are distance and commute wise. From brisbane CBD to gold coast is one hour similar to Melbourne CBD and say Pakenham (outer east)

You are speaking too broadly to be correct.

Brisbane CBD to northern Gold Coast is 25-30min by car with no traffic, double that to get to the beaches. Add a little more for some traffic and a bit more again for peak. By train it is a whisper under 1 hour from Coomera Station to Brisbane CBD, it will likely come down even more when the rail upgrade is complete.

The State Government’s PlanSEQ document prescribed a green wedge to separate metro Brisbane and Gold Coast. This wedge is between Orneau and Pimpama (around Ormeau station). Be careful calling Brisbane coastal, though. Kodak Beach ain’t Surfers Paradise . Plus it’s inland enough to be climatically different to the coastal areas.

It's been like that for over 20 years ,when i first went down in the middle 1970's the highway was only one lane both ways ..Now depending on the time it's packed bumper too bumper 24/7..

I've spent time in both cities recently. Both seem to have a fair bit going on. Just stayed in an airbnb on southbank in Brissy - there's so much construction happening.

I'm biased - but I can't think of many better places to live and work then the stretch from northern NSW to SE QLD.

    Cheers

    Jamie

Not a fan of Byron, nor Brisbane. Give me Tweed to Gold Coast.

They are already merged physically, the only thing that separates them is Pimpampa river. Administratively, I doubt it will happen.

Same thing with Sunshine Coast, the space between it and Brisbane is currently undergoing a lot of development, so it will probably completely join in the next decade.
