Looking ahead there will be self drive cars and much more automation. This will be the end of taxi/uber drivers, truck drivers, bus drivers, reduced work for mechanics, reduced energy/fuel consumption, reduced car/parts manufacturing.

There will be no need for luxury or different model cars, everybody will essentially use a taxi. There will be no more car crashes so no panel beaters, insurance companies will lose revenue, reduced fire/police/nurses for the reduction in accidents.

One day people will look back at how risky it was for people to pilot a tonne of metal.

Perhaps there will be more new jobs created but it's difficult to see where they will be created. Many of the people who lose jobs are not the type to study for a degree, although those jobs will be under pressure too.

Universal basic income is an option.

In relation to property there will be a lot less traffic and the cars will be electric, quiet and produce no emissions. Many of the roads in cities could be reduced in size. With green planning this could be space for more parks and bike ways.

With universal basic income people will move to the cities or tree/sea change areas. Inner city property especially Melbourne and Sydney will be more popular as will the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.

    Interesting times.
