    Hi,
    I am thinking of buying a property near Hornsby Rifle Club.
    http://www.hornsbyrslrc.com.au/

    Can anyone who live in Hornsby comment on the following please?

    1. the noise level from the rifle club
    2. whether there had been any accidents caused by rifle to the resident and the bushwalkers in the tracks near the rifle club
    3. the effect of rifle club to property price

    Looks like fun. Others in area will comment but it looks like it's only open on Saturday afternoon 11 months of the year.

    Our club participates in long-range rifle shooting at distances from 300M to 800M on the Hornsby Rifle Range every Saturday afternoon from 1:00pm. Our shooting year commences at the beginning of July and finishes at the end of May. The range is closed during June.

    Wouldn't stop me from buying in the area....I would probably become a member.

    OK seeing the boys are being silly I will take a go at this.

    Consider the negatives:
    - how far away is range
    - Is it visible
    - Can you hear it and for what lengths of times/days
    - Look at prices sold around the range and see what the discounting is to other properties further away

    If it is for an IP and you are having doubts, then probably stay away unless there is a great deal. You may be limiting the pool of tenants and more importantly potential buyers when you need to exit.
