PS. Not buying, just day-dreaming. I'm very content with my Barina.

I might be taking it a little off-topic with this one. Omg. Screen Shot 2015-11-07 at 7.29.08 pm.png

Wow some expensive "cheap " cars getting about! 15k is high rollers :p

The ea falcoons and vt bommodore taxi era are good bang for buck. Taxis get 500+km before they catch alight.

But there are a few old school porches that get about sub $10k that still hoon! My cousin picked one up for 8k and it went hard for its age

@datto Call me a traditionalist but I don't like them. Green & White - Really?

And the electric start, I wonder how long that will last once they hit the bull dust half way between Cairns & Darwin in the postie bike challenge. www.postiebikechallenge.org

Agreed. I do prefer the Subaru BRZ version though.

Collectible would need to be a world car - either a splitty comby with all of 40 hp on a great day, or a 6.9 engined benz , they came in a couple of series

Can get them for 15-17k now and are really nice to drive.

No body thinks it's cool though but I don't care

This is such an open ended and undefined question.

Does it have to be new? What's cheap? Heck what's cool?

I mean I really like the products that both Hyundai and Kia have been putting out lately from an aesthetic perspective and I'd consider them very cheap as far as new cars go. I haven't driven them though to have a clue if they're actually good on that front, just like the look they've got.

If you bring in 2nd hand then it's a bargain hunt for the best car you can find.

If you have to ask what's cool, you'll never know ;)

Here's my pick: Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 in full WRC kit. Not sure if any exist anymore. Power to weight was so ridiculous that most of them got written off :p

    E34 or e46 m3 then.

Or 350z - my mum has one and they punch nicely.

    Or one of these: image.jpeg

Edit: a 1980s Porsche 944 can be pretty cool too. And fairly affordable (when you don't consider maintenance at all)

Huge regrets selling my Monaro and SS when I moved to Asia. I'd buy them both back in a heartbeat.
