Read the book a few years ago, it was good. Was working at a Swiss investment bank in Zurich at the time which nearly went under (they were on the other side of the trades...), they were interesting times. A friend had a new job at Lehman brothers and turned up the very day they went bankrupt, said people were laughing at him poor bloke.

Very ordinary movie, I felt the script was weak and Pitt was under-utilised. Money ball is much better.

However I did feel a small amount of anxiety after it in relation to the possibility of the Aus property market crashing and seeing all my hard work being flushed down the economic toilet ! - so if your currently accumulating and easily frightened by media hype I recommend you don't watch this!! lol

I think there's a similar topic TV show coming out shortly too.
Has the guy from Homeland in it.

It's called "Billions", Damien Lewis is in it as the big money man, but my favourite is Paul Giamatti playing the hardcore legal lawman with a set of twisted and perverted fetishes.

I was looking forward to this.
Very very dry and I was waiting for the climax of the film but it never came.
Pitt was more like a cameo role.
    3.5/10

There was a trading film about 2 years ago called "margin call" which was not too bad..

    That's the one.
    Is it any good?
I usually don't like the big hyped shows.

I didn't mind the first episode, has a way to go before being a stable hit though.

'The Big Short', yeah I know, having just watch it I'm behind the times.

Found it fascinating albeit a bit nervous given the reports coming out of the Royal Commission into Banks.:(

I was reading an article last year about the housing and banking collapse in Ireland and there seemed to bit a fair bit of finger pointing at the Fianna Fail party for not listening to the warnings leading up to the crash.
Especially around the tax breaks for investors and financial oversight of the banks.
The soft landing that the government had planned for turned into a very hard thump .
