We are currently living in the most amazing time in history, most of us were born or raised in the information age and at a time where anybody can be anybody.

Anyone who has something to say can say it, they can get their own TV show through youtube, or radio show through podcasts.

Anyone can set up a website and get on social media interacting with millions of people around the world, get out there and get known.

Good ideas and visibility create a following where those ideas can expand and evolve over time through new knowledge and other people's inputs. People have made literally millions selling new non conventional ideas which challenge conventional thinking and create a new mindset.

There is no reason in today's age to hide behind an alias - and be an invisible hater. This is the lowest form of life anyone can live.

Don't agree with someone's model of the world? - great! Get out there, get noticed and create your own following on the opposite view point that works best for you. This is a business in itself.

It does not matter what you believe in or do not believe in - in this amazing age we are living in, you can take that view point and if you are willing to be visible and vulnerable, turn it into something big.

Agree Xenia. These are the halcyon days.

As Peter Diamandis says....."the future is better than you think."

Technology is certainly better than it ever was but I’m not sure that life in Australia is any better than it was in the late 90s/early 2000s. I guess the past always seems better though so who knows.

that's right ...and id add that new ttechnology has made knowledge more easily available and more of it too and cheaper as wel, and to a wider audience worldwide- this has greatly levelled the playing field (large, small, rich, poor) and increased the potential of millions worldwide. This has also brought about new challenges (and opportunities) at every level - technical eg information security, business process eg how we do things, and organisational eg governance and legal.
The capitalisation of the knowledge and opportunities presented will define winners from losers.

    These are fantastic times!

Unfortunately not for all. Not if you are one of the millions displaced by confict or living under a tyrannical government or where poverty, famine, squalor and disease are the norm.

Terrible times oohhh.... might grab a VB, nah better make that a Corona.

I agree that today we have information much more readily available than ever before. But information alone is useless. If we do not 'process' the information into something useable to benefit from, then it's futile.

There are so many things that are the best they have ever been...a disparate list off the top of my head...

    Life expectancy, cures, anaesthesia, surgery
The ease, rapidity and price of worldwide travel
The internet and it's ability to educate and empower
    Connectivity and limitless communication
    Flat bottom tacos

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way
Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities

Reflecting on this, I find progress to be a double-edged sword.....there are still challenges to overcome.......maybe it has always been this way throughout history.......

Life expectancy, cures, anaesthesia, surgery (people living longer, burden of caring for them rests with who?)
The ease, rapidity and price of worldwide travel (the easy spread of epidemics like swine flu, tuberculosis, ebola etc)
The internet and it's ability to educate and empower (porn, sexting, revenge sites, hacking, identity theft, internet fraud, conmen)
Connectivity and limitless communication (24/7 culture that upsets delicate work/life balance)
Flat bottom tacos (best invention ever! ;))
