Who had experienced termites and made an insurance claim?
Most policies exclude vermin (termites) from their policies, however...

Should there be an underfloor water leak from plumbing, particularly concealed plumbing (ie under or in a concrete slab), over a lengthy period and hence attracts termite colonies, then the question as to where insurance lines are drawn.

In this case, RAA insurance will cover purely the leak repair and surrounding water damage and exclude any termite damage or eradication.

    What are your experiences?

My insurance policies are very clear - damage by biting or chewing insects is not covered.

Wow! Lucky you. My insurance wouldn't cover leak repair or any invasive work to fix the leak. I think it's been awkward for trades to fix the water damage while leaving the termite damage. Still in progress and had to argue all the way. I will be checking carefully before I sign off that I'm happy with repairs as two building reports were performed and latest builder hasn't been instructed to fix all of the damage.

Termite barrier that was washed away may be covered for the expense of respray.
