For those who self-manage. Do you check rental applications against a tenant database? I never did that but just wanted to check.

Nope - I believe there are various ways a self managing landlord can access some of the databases but its too much effort for too little gain for me.

A real estate agency may be able to run some tests for you. I know in SA, there is a private landlords association to offer the service that maybe similar organisations in other states

Befriend a PM and ask them to check. Although if reference is from a PM you could assume everything is all good

Apparently, in WA, I have to let the tenant know which database(s) I am looking them up in.

Hi All, I have just joined this site to do some research. My partner and I have just started a platform for managing your properties. One of the features is that you can run a tenant check using the National Tenancy Database - the same as agents. $22 is all.

If you do use it, we are really keen for feedback so happy to give you a call and chat.

    Check it out - http://ourhou.se

Just log into the portal with your Facebook credentials.
