Who else hates Sydney winter? My productivity drops and not to mention an onslaught of allergies as soon as the winter starts.

I wish it was possible to opt out of Sydney winter!

Seriously? Have you lived anywhere else?

Try moving south or even inland for a couple of years - that will make you appreciate the mild (and often sunny) Sydney winters!

I agree 100%, winter is such a big distraction. I spend more time on snowatch.com.au and ski.com.au, BOM Alpine, I'm surprised that I still have time to post here, read the news, watch Mister Woo Tube AND get some work done.

It is. Move north. You probably wouldn't like the summers though.

You're 1/2 right - I didn't like the winters that much either - too mild.

I'll take a Sydney winter over a Perth one nearly any year.. (except last)

Perth is cold, wet and windy in June - Sept. and unlike Sydney has no ski fields within driving distance.

It's the lack of sun in Perth that kills me in winter. I get winter depression every year from lack as sun. I just tell work to expect me to be grumpy for 3 months. But it really only starts to turn around at the Spring Equinox.

@standtall, I do hate winter. I don't like that it is dark when I leave work and I hate the cold. If I ever get enough money to retire I would love to spend Spring, Summer and Autumn in Perth and winter in Brisbane. My grandparents from Adelaide lived in Brisbane about 4 months a year. Loved it. :)

No. Sydney winter is one of the best for those who doesn't like extreme cold. Weather is usuallt great with little rain. I still go to the beach this month without much add on. Will totally miss it when I'm in Melb

I have the same problem with hay fever in winter. Though I have it all year my severe attacks happen in winter (almost to the week).
Otherwise it has some good points - I can run around playing tennis for hours and not have to worry about heat stress. I like outside fishing which can be quite good in winter and the weather is often more stable for it.

My biggest turn off is that day is smaller and I need my daily dose of sun (vitamin D) to function well.

I have lived in New York for some time but I would take an extreme winter over a milder one for many reasons.

    1) better heating
    2) no allergies (snow cover hides away all bad stuff)
    3) enjoying snow is a bonus

When I moved from Geelong to Sydney I didn't wear a jumper for 3 years :D

By year 4, I was acclimatised, yep, now its cold again :(

Doesn't matter where you live, summer to winter changes (and back again) are terrible:p
