A heads up for anyone in Sydney looking to drive to work today - rethink you plans if possible it's chaos out there already.

The Lane Cove Tunnel is currently closed and there is heavy traffic along the M2 and Ryde Rd.

Also localised flooding on Epping and Waterloo Rd in Macquarie Park and plenty of crashes on the M2.

Homebush is also getting hit hard and there are traffic lights out in lots of areas.

Also the Light Rail is not running between Central and Dulwhich Hills due to flooding.

Water got into my boots. Now my feet are wet and they make weird noise when I walk..... rain has stopped though. So the worst seems to be over.

I believe the bad stuff isn't coming until this afternoon - that's when we're getting the damaging winds.

Yeah, there doesn't seem to be any current issues with the trains according to Transport NSW website - so provided that we don't see any power lines down or trees falling on tracks, it looks fine.

LASTEST ON FLOOD AFFECTED ROADS IN SYDNEY: Check www.livetraffic.com for the latest updates as conditions can change quickly.

The following roads are being affected by flooding:

    - In Roseville, two of three northbound lanes of Warringah Road are closed on Roseville Bridge
    - In Pennant Hills, one of three southbound lanes is closed on Pennant Hills Road at Beecroft Road
    - One of four northbound lanes is closed on Wattle Street in Ultimo at Thomas Street
    - In Macquarie Park, the M2 westbound on-ramp from Lane Cove Road is closed. Motorists should use the Delhi Road on-ramp instead. Additionally, westbound traffic is being affected on Epping Road at Whiteside Street, North Ryde as well as Lane Cove Road southbound at Waterloo Road
    - Westbound traffic is being affected by flooding and a landslide on the Great Western Highway in Springwood just past Macquarie Road

Never drive through floodwaters, slow down, exercise caution and drive to the conditions.

There are also a number of traffic lights blacked out and flashing yellow in a number of suburbs across Sydney including Macquarie Park, West Pymble, Epping, Rouse Hill and Burwood.

Had a surprisingly smooth run to work... Waze took good care of me as usual :) I did see a large tree hugging a few cars on the other side of Pittwater Rd though.

It fell over onto a few cars, tried not to rubberneck too much but a Mini at the front seemed to take the brunt of it, and it looked remarkably ok. Police just arrived on scene as I was driving past, didn't see any ambulances.

So we've just had a month's worth of rain in 2 hours - and more on the way.

Yep opposite Blenheim at the intersection with Pittwater. Traffic heading into Pittwater being redirected into Blenheim.

Yeah, another tree came down shortly after cops got there and crushed someone right there. Broken leg, broken hip, and something else.

So I guess you were on foot?

Rarely more than 40 minutes from anywhere is the the minor blessing of Canberra. Have seen a few aquaplaning though. Good fun to watch if you're that way inclined. I am.

Whatever. All take as much care as you can. The aim is to arrive home safe and sound.
