Does anyone know which suburbs generally have apartments or units that have the view of the harbour? Like Milson's Point. North Sydney, etc? Does anyone know generally what the outgoings for these kind of properties are?

Have a look at the vantage points for the NYE fireworks.

Jump on google earth for a look at all the stuff with direct views, then also factor in some of the taller buildings set a bit further back. There's lots of stuff around the city that's not too close to the water but the higher levels have great views of the opera house, darling harbour and more.

There's even stuff as far out as St Leonards with those views (from the higher floors).

Check out Blues point , Kirrabilli ( eg Karaba rd ) . Cremorne has a lot more houses around the water . BC's can be high . Lots of older blocks with low sinking funds , so with the changes in requirements , many have put their changes up to build up the sinking funds . Our two Mosman units were in that situation and the bc charges were 1500 and 1700 / quarter ...

It really depends how much of the view of Harbour Bridge you want... The Toaster would give you awesome view. Ask Alan Jones.

Wouldn't mind having the penthouse on that one. Stunning sunsets over harbour.

South side you have Darlinghurst (horizon building, the Elan and others), Rushcutters Bay, Elizabeth Bay, Potts point, Kings Cross area all have awesome views of harbour and/or city if facing right direction.

You'll be happy to know, North Sydney Council has one of the lowest (I think second from memory) council rates in Sydney.

Small LGA, density of population, super efficient ;), not fit for the future, etc

Personally for me, I would prefer North Sydney over the rest.

They will be after the place is demolished. Totally underutilized site (& to be brutalistic, 'butt ugly' too).

Part of the sell-off of expensive and inefficient city housing.

I agree that it is super ugly but with supreme view of the harbour.
