True but YOLO and the things you can do at 20-25 won't be as easy to do when you are 55 so it depends on priorities

The Sydney electorate that won the budget

"But the electorate of Fowler - 35 kilometres across town in western Sydney - has the nation's lowest proportion of income earners who qualify for the tax cut. In that seat, which takes in the suburbs of Liverpool, Cabramatta and Green Valley, just one in 20 earners get more than the new $87,000 threshold, modelling by The Australia Institute shows".

The adjoining electorates spread throughout south west Sydney aren't much better either as noted from the income map. That's the reality of living in Sydney though. Plenty of other places around the country...

Better than non-parents subsidising other people's kids I spose.

@2FAST4U - the thing that got me about the article was the reason behind the reason of why they missed out - entry level positions, unskilled workforce etc simply don't earn thise amounts.

The aim of the measure is to delay the effect of bracket creep not to give the big end of town $6/wk (not even a shot of espresso - after tax of course ).

@Azazel - if you want your kids to live in the style that you've made them accustomed then they will have saved, invested or scrounged.

I think they were actually lower back when Jesus was playing fullback for Nazareth.

They were around 5% during Jesus's fullback days.

The Egyptians used to tell the ancient Greeks to stop complaining about how rates, because they were up at 20% when they were building the pyramids. And they still managed to build a couple of the Wonders of the Ancient World, along with a sizable property portfolio. :D

I got nothing against the tax cut. My point was that a lot of people in South West Sydney are on moderate incomes, yet look at the median house prices of those areas:eek:

@2FAST4U Like everyone else they should be buying where they can afford, not have the expectation that they're entitled to be buying back into the area where they grew up. If that means a less desirable area, so be it.

There is nothing inspirational about wanting to be in the highest tax bracket when the gummint is doing the right thing by reducing bracket creep and keeping taxes lower - even if it is only $6/wk.
