So far one person is wearing a red t-shirt and another kindly broke their toe (to help pick out the PC crowd I'm sure), I'm assuming they will be wearing a boot.?

Maybe we need a better system.

Hoping I can get away a little earlier and be their closer to 7 than 8.

Yep, I'll be there hobbling about with a moon boot on. We're getting there around 6pm to get the kids fed first.

I'll be there just before 7pm. Been wanting to meet Ace In the Hole for a while and was looking out for a "Shire" meetup lol Nearly missed this altogether.

Nice to meet some friendly faces last night ;)

(No, they're not as scary as some of their user names :p)

    Engadine: Tavern or RSL
    Sutherland: Royal hotel or Boyles.
    Jannalli: ?
Menai: Club Menai or Bangor Hotel
    Gymea: Gymea Hotel
Miranda: RSL or Miranda Hotel (Carmens)
    Caringbah: ?
    Taren Point: The Point
    Wolloware: ?
    Cronulla: Northies

I'm unsure what's suitable between cronulla and miranda, but the above can accommodate us pretty well, assuming a similar turnout.

Best non depressing pub/club venues in the shire I reckon would be RMYC Port Hacking (no public transport), Cronulla Golf Club (ditto), Como Hotel (about 5 minute walk from station), or Highfield @ Caringbah (5 mins walk from station).

Not quite in the Shire but the St George Motor Boat Club is nice...no transport other than buses but there is a courtesy bus for members. I guess if the location became a thing then it's worthwhile but yeah...

Some suggestions to keep in mind:

    1) venue has to be quiet enough to be able to actually have a conversation, especially for a larger group with multiple conversations going at once - so pubs or venues which play loud music or have frequent announcements in the background are not ideal

    2) good food is kind of important

    3) easy parking and/or public transport helps - preferably both. If no public transport, then parking is of course, critical

    4) it would help if they actually stayed open fairly late, since sometimes you just want to keep talking

    5) stay clear of places which won't let you pay separately - I've been at a meetup at a restaurant with over 20 people and they wouldn't let us pay separately. Was a major PITA to sort out

Anyone got a recommendation for blinds and screens ?
Doesn't have to be a Shire company, but thought I'd ask ;)

Blinds Online | Largest Range, Lowest Prices. Roller Blinds, Venetian, Vertical, Roman and more.

We have used these guys last couple of times (5 times).

Found them to be the cheapest for Venetian blinds and verticals.

They make and deliver within 2 weeks.

You will need to measure as per their instructions and obviously they don't install.

We've used Dial a Blind in Rockdale for verticals and roller blinds a few times over the past 10 years. Always been cheap and they replaced some 7 year old faded verticals for free when we were quoting rollers for another part of the house. We didn't say anything, they volunteered to do it.

Bummer I didn't see this meetup before now.
