Righto. So I will meet with a few other advisors and get their input too and report back. Should be interesting to see what others offer in terms of portfolio combinations...

Just want to confirm this - consecutively or concurrently?

There's a huge difference in the way you would structure this.

    Cool :)

What you are (or should be) paying the FP for - and therefore people here cannot even really offer any substantial "ideas" (let alone "advice") - is that the FP knows your entire situation (if you have informed them). For example, your age, your income situtation, your employment outlook, your superannuation structure, your insurance and risk exposure, etc etc etc.

Indeed. We are both 50. We have one IP unencumbered earning 3.2% worth 1.2 million. $300 000 super and cash 1.3 million. No PPOR but we are nomads with a caravan. Want more cash to live on and to save. About to quit jobs.

I don't think your method will suit someone wanting to travel in a caravan. It sounds very hands-on and you'd need some knowledge of the US, surely?

... so just buy something online while traveling around Australia?

No US knowledge required? Don’t think that sounds like OP is looking for.

WTF is a wealth advisor ? By what that one suggest it appears to be some-one who tells you to by very ordinary shares to try to make himself wealthy at your expense. I would, and I have invested a fair chunk with Joe Magyer, who has achieved outstanding results. He achieved the highest returns in the USA before moving to Australia where he established his Pro Portfolio which has achieved a return of 140% in 3 years. Last year he established Lakehouse with a small companies managed fund which has given a 30% return. He has just established a Global Growth fund where he will pick the best 20-40 companies from around the world and sort the tax out, you can take distribution or have profits re-invested, or sell some units to get some of the gains. Exactly my point. I think @Butterfly88 has made it reasonably clear what she is looking for.

And I doubt it includes a whole new learning curve about buying property in the US.

Maybe @MTR I will buy one of your properties as a speculative move, however, we will be keeping most of our skin in other asset classes that will grow steadily and give us passive income for life.

I get to talk to a lot of people doing the same as you both when i can escape from Brisbane every now and again and go camping till the "WIFE: puts me on the missing persons list....A very high % own only the car and caravan and live sit-down money cheque too the next cheque ..Then every now and again you meet someone who stands out among the other campers with the high end winnie bago and the side-room come out and they set up the chairs and watch the wildlife..

If you want to live the stress free nomads life ,then you would want to keep it as simple as possible..

Looking at the "Suggested x Portfolio" and as from experience most think they know of events to come, the only problem is no-one can tell you when the good times end tomorrow ?next week?maybe early next year.

So the bottom line is misery for some who invest -riches for others..

From the people that drive the 250k winnie-bagos and don't drink home brew -all seem to have the same set-up most have fixed term money in Banks and live off the monthly interest payment plus invest in the banks for the cheques that turn up in their accounts every six months as we do not know the depth of wealth that exits elsewhere..

One of the statements that came the other day from a longterm bank investment ,offered just under 3% fixed term for six months for units holder in that bank at a certain level of units held ,do the maths on that one alone on the numbers you intend to invest and stress free total control comes to mind-what "F-P" plan for you and where they will lead you may have a very different path, the more simple you set it up the more easy the lifestyle.."IMHO".
