Just read again a street attack at a Mcdonalds of innocent people by street gangs. Is crime out of control there? Is this going to affect or is it already affecting property prices in some Suburbs ? These seem to be made up of gangs of a background of war torn Countries.
Maybe its just media but it has got a lot of my work colleagues talking about their safety in going to Melbourne. When you see gangs of up to 60 youths terrorising your CBD it makes me feel scared to go there. 2GB radio announcer Ray Hadley said Victoria is a Left Wing State that will never grow abd too many Civil Liberties which will hold it back.
is there a link to the article plz? some horrible stories from the link below (mostly certain race was involved).. vic crime | VIC CRIME | News.com.au
From The Age today: "Australia added 337,821 people, of whom 123,131 settled in Victoria – the biggest annual population growth the state has ever had. When the bureau releases urban growth estimates in March, it will show Melbourne's growth in 2015-16 smashed the previous record of 100,349, set in 2008-09 – until now, the only time any Australian city has ever added 100,000 a year."
Depends entirely on where you live. The Apex gang is the latest crowd that are grabbing headlines. The media (and even the Cops; for some reason) won't say it due to their PC apologist agendas, but it is predominately of Somalian refugees, and/or their teenage kids. Other than this; Melb is about the same as ever. Gangs operate in various areas; none of that has really changed. What is a concern though is how little punishment/sentences the various crimes seem to be given these days; I think from this point of view; 2GB is correct.
As a former resident of the inner west I would nominate Sunshine as the winner of that particular prize. Yet I see that it has recently breached the $1,000,000 mark for the first time - unbelievable.
Which claim, the one that it's not a happy place or the one that the prices can exceed $1,000,000? In relation to the first claim, I worked across three sites in the inner West for three or four years not too long ago and out of the three Sunshine was definitely my least favourite. I'm not going to recount the individual incidents that occurred that put me off - if you're a resident then you will know exactly what kinds of things I'm talking about. In relation to the second point, there was a free-standing house - actually a development site - that went for $1.6 million on Hertford Rd I was reading recently... that's astonishing for an average-sized block albeit in "central" Sunshine.
Lol, I think you meant Sudanese refugees. Common misconception but two totally different countries/ethnicity. Cheers
