At a local meet up the other night and Simon was there, we always dig up some classic history from the forum, going back to Somersoft days.

Got me thinking of some classic topics/people/posts which never eventuated after some big talk ups.

Here’s a couple, I wonder who’s been around long enough to remember them:

    Reno Funders
    New Property Concept
    Reno Funders

    Derivex
    Derivex

I guess you could throw Navra into the mix too, Henry Kaye, Peter Spann, etc...

I wonder if there’s anything similar similar, or likely to go the same way in more recent times

It would be interesting to have a 5 year (from now) recap!

    My guesses:
    - property investors club
    - NB
... not sure sure about this, but cryptocurrencies other than Bitcoin?

For 10 years, I'll guess Facebook!

    Nice thread Ace:)

Concept.... LOE, (living off equity).......wont put any names to this.... but a big fail........ the old chestnut... you still need to access equity from banks. This was never going to work.

Yeah LOE requires perpetual growth but if you got your strategy up and running early enough and are open to buying all over Oz then it can and still does work.

For example, if you'd have leveraged your Perth properties to buy in Sydney in 2008 - 10 years later you'd have leveraged Sydney to buy in Perth again.....

I think I heard/read that Navra was living in Melbourne, selling real estate?

LOL :D @See Change definitely not hitched to The_Wife

As for Navra, money's still being chased via legal action....

I liked the Reno Kings- straight up shooters full of great reno tips. I learnt a lot watching their stuff, as well as Peter Spann. Peter started off well too and is a born speaker- he really got people excited about property investment and renos and off their bums and taking action. Don't know what he's doing now but a good motivational talk or two doesn't hurt if that helps you on the path to action.

The early somersoft days had some real characters too :D hey @geoffw :p

    This thread is awesome!
Nice one @Ace in the Hole.

I would like to see where the crew I first met end up 5-10 years from now.

I remember starting off with the likes of Sana and Mona Ali, Michael Xia, Steven Ryan. I love to see that they're still pushing on.

And to the dozens more that have vanished. I wonder if any have stuck with it.

I joined Somersoft in 2012. 6 years. Seems like a lifetime ago.

Full of ambition, and not a clue what I was on-and-on about.
