Yep you will probably get 1 from Mark Group, 1 from Nicholls Group Solar and 1 from some poor sucker just trying to survive and from my experience none of them are worth the paper they are printed on.

My suggestion would be to get some local quotes from local suppliers in your region or have a look over on Whirlpool (Green Tech) to see who are recommended in your area.

I had a quote a while back which we decided not to take up.

We have had dozens of calls from various people since offering us a free quote.

I went with Metro Solar and have been very happy with the installation and product. Note, they only use micro-inverters, which are more pricey than traditional string inverters but are quality Enphase units that offer the much better shading performance that I needed.

We have had a 30kw system on our factory for a couple years now and have had nothing but dramas, all quality inverter and panels. Early on they found 4 leaking panels and they were all from same batch, in the end all panels were replaced. Panels were all mounted too close to each other so 4% of the year through winter they all shade each other too much and don't even turn on. Panels have blown fuses on the roof 4 times now, mate who installs solar that fixed it for us reckons he has never seen that happen once before let alone 4 times. And to top it off one of our machines plays up with the inverter so every time we fire it up when it producing 10kw+ (up to 20-30 times a day ) the inverter throws an error and resets it self.

Might as well pop this here as it's relevant.

First Tesla Powerwall operational in Australia under Energex solar battery trial.

Translated: Energex recognises that our monopoly is about to be disrupted for the first time since the invention of the lightbulb. We are working hard to ensure that we can still maintain massive profit margins and milk as much as we can from the coffers of the state government.

    Still good news though!

What I have now found out which makes it simple for me to understand.

Need to ensure you are buying Tier 1 Solar panels as they are highest standard in terms of testing etc. So in other words you can get panels from Europe, China, Canada at different prices but if they are Tier 1 and the supplier has been using them for many years with no issues then well worth comparing pricing. They all have the same guarantee/warranty.

The most important aspect is the inverter, and this is where you should ensure you are buying top of the range, I have been informed that SMA is brilliant. Still researching this.

Getting 2 more quotes and then will make a decision.

    We were recommended:
    1. 5kW single phase system (REC panels (Singapore) + Fronius inverter (Austria)) with Wi-Fi monitoring costs from $7.5k to $8.5k
    2. 10kw three phase system with similar components $12k

I've tried emailing Antony/hiequity at his Infinte Energy email but no answer so I'll have to talk to someone else there now that we are ready to build.

Chick explanation: Standard power to your house is single phase and has a limit to the amount of 'juice'. If you run large air con, power tools that draw a lot of power etc you need to upgrade to 3 phase.
Google could probably explain it using amps and stuff :)

Three phase pulsates, but never falls to zero volts.
Single phase pulsates, and fall to zero volts producing less average power.

Imagine a lone paddler in a canoe. He can only move himself forward while his paddle moves through the water. When he lifts the paddle out of the water to prepare for the next stroke, the power supplied to the canoe is zero.

Now picture the same canoe with three paddlers. If their strokes are synchronized so each is separated by 1/3 of a stroke cycle, the canoe receives constant and consistent propulsion across the water. More power is supplied and the canoe moves across the water more smoothly and efficiently.

just signed up with infinity, was impressed with this group, thanks guys for referring them.

6.3 kw for $7,300. they are competitive with pricing for tier 1 solar panels and top of the range invertor
They also provided a solution so we can actually get more solar panels on our roof
