    yes read that article. of course it is possible to look at social media of individuals already and gain all sorts of info. amazing what some put on facebook for anyone to see.

    We already look at their social media profiles where possible.

    Sometimes you have to be careful doing this. If I mentioned that I looked at social media as a part of an employment situation, I could have got myself into trouble. If you do it, don't say so.

    How so @geoffw? Farcebook & Slinkedin are both publicly accessible, there are other search engines which also reveal someone's social media presence.

    If an applicant chooses to portray themselves as a hard partying person or a foodie or a recluse (locked down all privacy settings), that's up to the individual.

    If after receiving a job application with passport details etc then you decided to run a credit check, TICA & criminal background check that may be going a few steps too far for employing a gardener/tradie but possibly not for a cashier/childcare worker or pool cleaner.
